How VbV Works

Verified by Visa (VbV) validates the authenticity of Visa^® cardholders who make purchases on your website in real time.

The Verified by Visa Merchant Plug-In module – integrated with your existing shopping cart/payment system – prompts Visa cardholders to enter a password during check-out. The password is then validated by their card issuer and the transaction authorized. Visa transactions that are authenticated through the VbV service are protected from chargebacks for online fraud.

Getting Started

• You'll need a Merchant Plug-In (MPI) module to integrate into your existing online payment system.
• Consider displaying the VbV Merchant Mark throughout your eCommerce website.
