Important details about car rental insurance when renting a vehicle in Canada, the United States or internationally with a Visa card eligible for coverage.
When you rent a car almost anywhere in the world* and pay for the full cost of the rental with a Visa card eligible for coverage, you can receive the Visa Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance coverage at no additional cost. Remember, to take advantage of this coverage you must decline the collision/loss damage insurance offered by the rental company.
This protection does not extend to third-party liability (property damage, injury or death resulting from an accident) or the loss of personal effects.

*There are a few countries where the law requires the cardholder to purchase local insurance. When travelling outside of Canada and the United States, ask if local law requires this purchase.
